Beautiful skies

We have recently been treated to seeing the amazing Northern Lights and some dramatic sunrises at Fenland Dog Park.  As the nights pull in, evening booking slots have been reduced, and we have a new look online booking screen.

We have been spoilt by some great skies over Fenland Dog Park recently.  Back in the middle of October most of the UK were lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, even with the naked eye.  With our rural location and lack of light pollution then our skies were filled with dramatic greens, reds and purples, made even more clear when looking through a phone camera.  It was an amazing spectacle and I was glad to be able to take a few photos and share the occasion with some of my family.

We have also recently been treated to some lovely sun rises and sunsets over the Dog Park.  The old saying of ‘red sky in the morning, shepherds warning’ certainly came true on many occasions in October, as we got more wet miserable days; an unfortunate continuation from the wet September!  Unlike some of the recent devastating floods we have seen across France and Spain, we have now luckily enjoyed a couple of weeks of dry weather in our area.  It has been very welcomed to help bring in much of the root crop harvests on the farm, and sow the seeds for next year’s wheat harvest.

Halloween seems to be getting a bigger event each year, with more houses being decorated in ever intriguing styles and objects.  Here at Fenland Dog Park we put some of our home grown Howl-O-Ween pumpkins on site, and a few other decorations up on the entrance gate, selfie board and the shelter.  Thank you to all who shared their photos; it was lovely to see the dogs enjoying themselves.

As we approach winter, the nights have been drawing in and we have had the clocks turn back one hour.  For site cleanliness and safety we have reduced the sites opening hours, as we did last year.  The latest bookable slot will soon be brought forward again, so that an entire visit can be made in daylight.  In addition to these changes the Council have asked us to record the number of dogs booked on site.  When you now go online to book, you will notice that you have to select the number of dogs you are bringing with you.  The maximum number of dogs on site remains at 4 dogs, and no costs have changed.  All available booking slots are shown on the website, www.fenlanddogpark.co.uk.

Finally, a big thank you all for your continued support of the local Dog Park.  As the site gets more established and busier, it is even more important that we all help to keep it clean and tidy by picking up after our dogs.  We have put more poo bag dispensers on the fences and also put up more signs to help remind customers to pick up after their dogs.  We have also increased the frequency of our site checks.  Thank you in advance for doing your bit in keeping the site clean and enjoyable for all to use.

Please feel free to subscribe to our Newsletters and follow us on social media @fenlanddogpark, so you are the first to know what we are up to.
