First Six Months at Fenland Dog Park

Feb 1, 2024 | Blog | 0 comments

Fenland Dog Park has just celebrated its sixth month birthday!  Thank you very much for your continued support, and we love seeing and hearing about your dog’s enjoying the paddock.

Fenland Dog Park opened at the end of July 2023, a bit later than planned, as it was so dry the grass wasn’t growing very well, and we were having to water it with our giant 72m farm irrigation sprinkler system to help it along.  How the weather changes!  From October onwards it has been one of the wettest periods in many years, and low-lying areas in the dog park had standing water for quite a while; thank you for bearing with us while the ground soaked up the excess rain!

We held our first feedback morning back in September 2023, where you gave us some great suggestions and comments to help improve the Dog Park, which we very much appreciated.  We added a selfie board and a sand pit, and then added an area of hard standing by the entrance to paddock – that suggestion was an especially brilliant one with the weather we all then endured!

We also had requests for you to be able to purchase discounted ticket Bundle Packages, which were added to the website back in August 2023, and then this month, following a few requests over the Christmas period, we added the option to buy Gift Certificates.  The other requests we receive are if you and your friends can bring your five or six dogs to Fenland Dog Park; unfortunately due to a Council Planning restriction we are only allowed four dogs on site and we highlight this at the booking page, in the FAQ’s, and is reminded again in the booking confirmation email.  Thank you for your understanding on this.

We are always keen to see your dogs enjoying Fenland Dog Park on social media, and we have held a few fun competitions and giveaways in these first six months, including using the selfie board, a Halloween event and our countdown to Christmas; it was great to see so many of you get involved.  Our social media presence is growing with over 550 Facebook followers and 18 five-star reviews – thank you all and please keep them coming!

We have been really pleased by the popularity of the Dog Park, and we have had over 400 different individuals and their dog’s book in with us, with the weekends usually fully booked.  As we got into the winter months with shorter day length, we reduced the available booking slots so that the paddock was only open during day light hours.  The graph shows how the bookings have reduced during the winter, but as the nights are starting to draw out again, we will make later afternoon slots available again as daylight length increases.

Even though we have now been open for six months please do carry on giving us feedback on how we can continue to improve, and offer us more of your great suggestions by emailing us at hello@fenlanddogpark.co.uk.  We will also advertise this feedback request on our Facebook and Instagram social media accounts.

The countryside is starting to awake from winter, with the snowdrops out and the daffodils not far behind, and before we know it, Easter will be upon us. Thank you once again for the support you have shown Fenland Dog Park and we wish you and your dogs a happy and healthy 2024.

Please feel free to subscribe to our Newsletters and follow us on social media @fenlanddogpark, so you are the first to know what we are up to.
