Wet and dark, but it will soon be Christmas!

Autumn 2023 has been a wet one at Fenland Dog Park, and with the shorter day length any opportunity to see some sunshine needs to be taken!

After a brighter and warmer September, October and November weather clearly reminded us all that we are well into autumn, and winter is rapidly approaching!ย  Storms Babet and Debi hit our area with some heavy rain, but we were lucky to miss the flooding others locally unfortunately endured.ย  During the month of October, we measured 163mm (6.4โ€) of rain at Fenland Dog Park; about one quarter of our annual rainfall, and the highest October rainfall we have recorded since we started keeping records in the 1960โ€™s.ย  Only June 2019 (207mm/ 8.1โ€) gave us a higher monthly total.

The wet weather affects us all, and has meant that we have not been able to mow the Dog Park as much as we would have liked.ย  We have been using a small ride on mower which is a lighter but also less cutting width than the usual tractor mower, so we donโ€™t make too much mess, but taking longer to get the job done.ย  Please bear with us and we will grab opportunities when we can in between the rain.ย  It is also clear to see from the bookings made at the Dog Park that you are all also savvy weather forecast watchers, as on the wet dayโ€™s bookings drop off considerably!

As we approach winter, and with the clocks having gone back, the day length has got shorter quite quickly.ย  New winter opening hours and available booking times for the Dog Park have been amended on the website at www.fenlanddogpark.co.uk.

We celebrated Halloween at Fenland Dog Park with no tricks, but a few dog treats and toys hidden around the site.ย  Thank you to all those who shared their photos with us; it was lovely to see your four-legged fanged friends having fun.ย  Due to the success of this we will also celebrate the run up to the Christmas periodโ€ฆโ€ฆkeep your eyes open on social media, and look out for festive dog treats appearing at the Dog Park.ย  It is great to see that we already have a booking for Christmas Day!

Thank you all for your continued support, especially during this recent spell of bad weather.ย  In these first four months from opening, we have had over 330 separate customers use the Dog Park and an average of 6 bookings per day.ย  We will carry on working hard to make sure the facility can be enjoyed by all, and please continue to tag us in your visit photos, and we will then share them on our social media.

Please feel free to subscribe to our Newsletters and follow us on social media @fenlanddogpark, so you are the first to know what we are up to.
